Industry-Best Customer Support
By far the most powerful bicycle light I've used. As a city rider, lights are primarily for visibility. The Road Edition is bright enough to alert motorists heading the opposite direction of my presence, even in daylight. I also love the battery indicator.
Outbound Lighting Customer Service puts this review over the top for me. I damaged the battery cord by leaving it unplugged - - it got caught in my bicycle chain. Totally my fault. I told them what happened, and they sent me a replacement - free! I definitely recommend these folks.
I purchased a Road Edition and I’ve been happy with the product thus far (one month in). The quality of the light is very good, the lighting pattern is excellent and ther battery life is very good. I am using the light for commuting in adaptive mode and typically run two night runs (a bit over an hour each way) before charging. The LED switching interferes with the signal on my cheap, Giant cyclocomputer, so I don’t get accurate speed/dist. measuring when the light is operating, but that’s a small price to pay for functional illumination and visibility at night.
I would like if this light had an integrated battery, but recognize that would sacrifice the form size and weight of the lamp unit, so the remote battery is a sutiable compromise. The instructions for using the lamp (aiming, suggestions for mounting the battery, etc.) could be better, but anyone with reasonable common sense can figure it out, it would just be nice to see what others have found to work well. After using a few times, I ordered an extension cord to mount the battery beneath my seat to get it out of the way and keep it from interfering w/ access to water bottles.
Matt and company are very responsive to questions. I’m happy to support a well-designed, well-supported, American-made product. Keep up the good work.
I run Outbound Lighting on both my Gravel Bike & Road Bike. The battery packs give long and consistent power. The light distribution cannot be beat. I trust these to get me through the toughest conditions safely.
Does what it's supposed to do. But the given length is wrong, it's 30" not 36" ! (Got two cords of this dimension)
Thank you for the comment! I adjusted the listing to correct that error. My apologies!
