Bike Lights
We have used several lighting systems over the last ten years and now outbound is our go to for our family mountain bike needs. We have use the hangover lights for all 5 of our family members and pair them with the Evo for my wife and I. We do family night rides 3 times a week in the Arizona summers to keep cool and these light systems rock. Always recommend, other light systems work but these guys last and have been worth the money for us.
Very happy with the Detour Light. Excellent design and build quality. The light pattern is just right for road and gravel rides. Battery life has been great and charges quickly. The strobe/flash function is great for being seen during day rides. I ended up using the optional action camera quick release mount below my Peak Design phone mount. Its just as solid as the handlebar mount and doesn’t bounce around at all. Also raises the Detour above my bikes cables so no weird shadows.
Bought this light to hang it on an SE Fast Ripper. Haven't had a chance to ride it after dark yet, however, everything so far has been top-notch. Delivery was fast, the packaging the light comes in is very nice. USB C!!! Thank You! I'm trying to simplify my charging cable collection and I appreciate the USB C charging.
Needed a repair done. They paid for shipping both ways! My light was serviced the same day that they received it and sent back to me so quickly. Customer service and support is like no other. Such a great product is really the bonus!
This light package is unbelievable, and well worth every penny. I've been using them for about a week now in the Phoenix area, when it's still 105+ degrees at 8pm, and they haven't had a single hiccup in the heat. Easy to mount, and love that the main handlebar light can be easily removed if riding in the daytime, or to keep it out of the hot garage. Throws an insane amount of light as well, no shadows at trail level thanks to the bar light/helmet light elevation difference. People will see you coming, pull over, and call out "Hey what's up Outbound!" because these lights are so powerful and iconic. Nighttime riding IS INCREDIBLE!!!
Outbound Lights WOW you guys make a great rugged bright light. I have had the helmet light for a year and just got the Trail Evo (handlebar light). Hot here in Vermont so went for a 6 mile night ride a these lights really lit up the trail. Five miles Indy my ride the Trail Evo died (that’s what happens when you don’t charge them). But no problem the helmet light provided all the light needed to finish my ride. Not only are these light bright they are rugged construction and the best part there made in the USA.
This is my great guide at night when I leave work.
The Fall of 2019, I was part of a Meetup MTBing group that started talking about night riding. I started looking into bar mounted lights to find they didn't produce a ton of light (around 1,200 lumens), had a "large" external battery pack you mounted to your frame that only lasted upwards an hour and the cost...around $800!!! I pushed it off and then COVID hit the following Spring. I kinda gave up on the idea of night riding until last year when I started to see these adds popup on my Instagram feed from this "Outbound Lighting"?! I brushed them off at first but then took a look. When I read they touted a dual helmet and bar light setup, I didn't even bother to see the price as it had to be expressive based on prior research (right?). Finally the adds started to call to me and I broke down and looked up the package price and was SHOCKED to see it was only $375!?! How could that be?! It had to be too good to be true. There was no way you could have everything built into a small package, with no external battery packs, touting the run time and lumen output. Or could it?! The images posted of how these lights lit up the trails was very convincing. So I started researching the company and following them for awhile. Finally last Fall I decided I'd buy a set the following Spring. So fast-forward to my birthday (yes I treated myself) and I got the Evo Downhill Package. I still couldn't believe all of what Outbound was touting could be in these two small packages. So I waited for what I considered the ideal weather conditions for a night ride. That was Thu June 6th, 2024. I live in Northern Utah and the daytime temps had just reached the mid-90's, and it was a New Moon. I reached the trail head parking at twilight and proceeded to set up everything for my ride. At this point the darkness had started setting in, so I turned on the lights. WOW!!! is all I can say! These lights are everything Outbound Lighting states them to be! This is my 35th season MTBing, and I never thought I would find something that would bring me back to how I felt the first time I jumped on a MTB. This experience did just that for me! I think if I had done it sooner, with substandard light(s), it wouldn't have been the same experience. The 3,200 lumens light up the trial and everything just around it. At no point did I feel like I would overdrive the lights. I want to thank Outbound Lighting for giving me another reason to ride and to have the ability to experience what's out there in the dark. It really is a whole other world waiting to be experienced!
For those that recognize that their Unbound 200 will finish in darkness (I did), you want a light you can count on. In 2023 I DNF'd and one reason was I knew my light wouldn't last. It wasnt an Outbound light. All the delays/walking because of the mud really set things back.i was prepared this year. Any light solution has to be bright to see tricky lines on down hills and have enough battery to get you to the end. The Trail Evo checked all the boxes. It is worth every cent and provides a solution you can count on no matter the terrain or time setbacks you encounter.
Sometimes you get what you pay for. In our case, Quality+Bright+Reliable=Good times ahead! Yes it was more expensive than some, but well worth the money. This last purchase put us at four bikes each running the Trail Evo from the bars and each also running the Hangover from our helmets. We just went on a night ride for Memorial Day and all the other lights others were using were varying degrees of “good” but when we showed up with our Outbound setup, the cast of bright along the trail was fantastic and filled in what the other lights were missing. Having tried a few companies and liking some, now when talk of what lights to buy comes up, Outbound is the only company we’ll recommend!
You absolutely do not "need" 2, but I wanted a high and low beam, because... why not?
I recently purchased the Trail Evo, and I must say, it has exceeded all my expectations. As an avid mountain biker, I've tried various name-brand lights over the years, but none have come close to the performance of this one.
First and foremost, the brightness of this light is phenomenal. It illuminates the trail with a crisp, powerful beam that turns night into day. Whether I'm riding through dense forests or open trails, the visibility is impeccable, allowing me to spot obstacles well in advance. The adaptive brightness setting is a great feature, offering versatility for different riding conditions.
What truly sets this light apart, though, is its battery life. On a single charge, it lasts significantly longer than any other lights I've used. During extended night rides, I no longer have to worry about conserving battery. Even on the highest setting, the battery life is impressive, providing peace of mind for those longer adventures.
The build quality is another standout feature. It's rugged, water-resistant, and has withstood a few accidental drops without any issues. The mounting system is secure and easy to install, ensuring the light stays put even on the roughest terrains.
In summary, the Trail Evo is a game-changer. Its unmatched brightness and exceptional battery life make it the best option for serious mountain bikers. Having tried other well-known brands, I can confidently say that this light surpasses them all in both performance and reliability. If you're looking for the ultimate MTB light, look no further.
I already the EVO downhill package for my hardtail. Just got my action camera mount for my new ride. The carbon bars do not accept the standard mount. Pretty excited about the new set up!
I have only gotten to use the light a few times on some night rides, and it worked great! However I discovered that it works great around the house when we lost power for several days. Lights up a room and stands up to shine off the ceiling. It does get a little warm to the touch on high, but low power provides great light and stays cool.
I had the helmet light ripped off my helmet by a branch. The mount did not break but the light housing broke where it was attached to the mount. With no questions asked, Outbound sent me a return label and repaired my light free of charge.
Best light in my opinion.
I met these guys at the Sedona MTB festival and I’m sure glad I bought this combo. Now I can ride anytime I want. Love the stability and craftsmanship. So far I have no complaints and I keep recommending them to my ridding buddies. Keep up the great work guys. Nothing better than buying that American made product!
