Job Title: Sales & Marketing Manager

Job Type: Full-time Salaried

Location: Bellingham, WA

Salary: $80,000 starting (negotiable), with EOY Bonus.

Ideal Candidate:
Self-motivating, collaborative, detail-oriented individual with experience in IBD networks, CRM systems, online marketing, website design, social media management, events, and OEM relationships in the cycling industry, or any combination thereof. Some experience with graphic design is also a plus. If you can ride a bike that’s cool too.

Job Function:
The primary roles of this position are to grow the brand through improved marketing for direct sales, expansion of our dealer network, and increase exposure through all channels.

Nearly endless opportunities are present to dive deeper in any of the areas listed above based on your core competencies, leveraging your specific experience and skills most efficiently. This can include creating and managing CRM systems, optimizing Google/Meta advertising, working with media agencies coordinating PR and reviews, OEM partnership development, social media content and communication management, even pitching in at events interfacing with customers. There is a lot to do here, the world is your oyster.

Responsibilities

Sales

  • Implementation of ERP/CRM systems to better manage customer communication while growing our IBD network sustainably.
  • Website management focusing on conversion rate improvement and proof of authority for our core expertise and value-add. (Shopify based)
  • Analyze the competitive landscape, identify new opportunities for sales growth within the industry, put together plans to approach them.

     
Marketing

  • Own our brand guidelines for what drives our company to do what we do how we do.
  • Advertisement creation and optimization for common channels (Google, Meta, media/journalistic sites, etc).
  • Social Media and online content management to grow our primary demographic while improving communication on what differentiates Outbound from other brands.
  • Build relationships with industry partners and OEMs for both media and connecting our product development teams.
  • Assist in creation of new media assets and resources for customer education.
  • Analyze the customer experience to shape how we improve every touch point to bring in new customers and keep existing customers coming back.
  • Assist the Events team in identifying new venues, building relationships in-person at current events.

Design

  • Graphic design experience is a plus for maintaining cohesiveness between website, event graphics, packaging design, LBS displays, etc

Requirements

  • Well-organized and self-starting is key
  • Absolutely must be able to self-teach and figure things out. We are not experts in all things sales and marketing, but will provide the resources to let someone learn and grow.
  • Must be focused on building the brand the right way – we don’t need a pushy used car salesman, we need a good human that can convey our core values clearly and effectively.
  • <10% travel expectation for key events throughout the year and to Chicago HQ.

  • Weekly business hours are typical 9-5 Monday through Friday at our Bellingham HQ. Some remote work is possible per manager discretion.
  • The week between Christmas and New Year’s is typically taken off by the entire company.

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer 

Job Type: Full-time Salaried

Location: Bellingham, WA

Ideal Candidate: Talented Mechanical design engineer who can help conceptualize and execute on the part designs

Job Function: The primary role of this position is to assist and develop new consumer products for bike lights. Experience with plastic molding design is a must, along with strong Solidworks CAD experience.  Will be expected to take the lead on taking products from initial concepts, to prototypes, to production parts. With sustaining tasks such as revision control, documentation, and part numbering systems. 

Will work closely with electrical engineering, optical engineering, and production engineering to help bring more products to market.

Responsibilities

 Mechanical Design

  • Utilize plastic injection molding design, CNC machining design, and die cast molding design techniques to create robust, cost effective, and easy-to-manufacture parts. 
  • Develop products that feel great, look great, are waterproof, and will last while working hand in hand with electrical and optical design teams. 
  • Push the boundaries of materials and manufacturing techniques to bring innovations to the biking world. 
  • Be heavily involved in prototyping and development process with a focus on DFMA.
  • Utilize all methods of 3D printing (SLA, FDM, SLS) and machining for developing prototypes. 
  • Create clear and concise drawing packages for part quoting and production.

Manufacturing Sustaining and Efficiency 

  • Continuous improvement and management of production parts based on evolving supply chain and manufacturing constraints.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure parts are built to specifications.
  • Revision control, consistent documentation, and management of production parts.

Product Testing and Feedback

  • Work closely with customer support team to bring user data and feedback directly from customers to improve production quality and consistency at scale.

Requirements

  • Must have strong experience with Solidworks CAD modeling.
  • Demonstrate good modeling techniques, surfacing, and experience with developing complex parts.
  • Have experience working with other disciplines to bring a consumer product to market.
  • Ideally focused on parts that are used in the biking space or broad consumer electronics market.
  • A strong desire to learn more, try new things, and work within a very small company that moves quickly and grows quickly. Being self-sufficient is an absolute must.

Job Title: Head of Design

Job Type: Full-time Salaried

Location: Bellingham, WA

Ideal Candidate: Versatile designer with a strong industrial design background who can lead product aesthetics from concept through production, while also owning every design touchpoint, such as packaging, graphics, brand, web assets, and beyond. You work well with engineers, are comfortable owning decisions on a small team, and have the range to go from 3D product development to laying out an instruction manual without losing momentum.

Job Function: The primary role of this position is to lead design for our third generation of products, working directly with our mechanical and electrical engineers in Bellingham. You'll own industrial design for the full product lineup while also being responsible for all downstream design work such as packaging, print, brand, and digital. There is no separate brand team or agency layer. You set the standard and execute it.

Responsibilities

 Industrial Design

  • Lead form development, CMF, and ergonomics for Gen 3 product lineup and accessories while working together with mechanical, optical, and electrical engineering.
  • Own product aesthetics from initial concept through production intent, including DFM-conscious design decisions.
  • Drive prototyping and design validation using 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS) and hands-on iteration.
  • Create and maintain design documentation, including sketches, renderings and production-intent reference materials.

Brand & Graphic Design

  • Design retail and e-commerce packaging, including structural dielines and print-ready artwork, and work closely with vendors to ensure execution.
  • Create instruction manuals, quick-start guides, and in-box documentation.
  • Develop and maintain brand design standards — typography, color, iconography, and layout language.
  • Produce website graphics, marketing visuals, and product photography direction.
    Design dealer display systems and point-of-sale materials for our IBD network.
  • Ensure visual cohesion across all customer touchpoints from product to box to web.

Requirements

  • Strong industrial design portfolio with physical consumer products taken through to production.
  • Fluent in some form of 3D software (Blender, Solidworks, Plasticity, etc.) and be able to adjust models quickly in response to engineering input. Being able to design parts in Solidworks is a huge plus.
  • Proficient in Adobe CC (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) for 2D and graphic work.
  • Experience designing for manufacturing: injection molding, CNC, and surface finishing constraints.
  • Packaging and print design experience including vendor handoff.
  • Self-sufficient and able to manage a wide scope without a team around you.
  • Opinionated about design and able to articulate the reasoning behind decisions clearly.
  • A strong desire to learn, try new things, and thrive in a small company that moves fast.
