Quick Release Handlebar Mount
- In stock, ready to ship
- Inventory on the way
Have multiple bikes? Want to swap Trail Evo or Detour between them often? Here ya go. (I can't believe we have to specify this, but this ONLY works with our lights, competitor lights will not be compatible.)
Fits 35mm and 31.8mm handlebars. (shims for 22.2mm and 25.4mm are available)
This can be mounted to the left or the right of the stem, so even if the mount is upside down, the light can be mounted right side up and function exactly as intended.
If you have a broken handlebar mount, please contact us before buying another, regardless of how you broke it! (We love hearing crash stories and will replace it even if you yeeted into a tree)
Loving the Outbound Lighting setup! Game changer for early morning / late night rides... just need a good taillight now.
I ride after dark weekly living in the high desert of western Colorado and these lights are amazing!
Very pleased with my results I called up told him what the issue was. They wanted me to send pictures so they could look and sent me on a new part put it on and worked great definitely recommend the bike light for your bike very bright thank you very much
The lights are fantastic and incredibly high-quality. I would absolutely give it five star except for one minor issue and that is the mounting brackets use an obscure 2.5 mm hex wrench, which, as it turns out is rather uncommon on multi tools. So when it slips or comes loose on the trail, you’re out of luck. Why not use a three mil? That would solve the problem
As the saying goes, 'everything for a reason.'
Story time: we made the switch to glass-fiber-reinforced nylon for the mount to be stiff and resilient, and actually started with a common M4 socket head screw, which has an M3 tool broach, but found customers were overtorquing (people think tighter is always better for some reason) and the smaller head would actually bit into the clamp and squeeze through it, damaging it. So, to prevent people from accidentally damaging the clamps we switched to a button head screw that has a lot more surface area, so overtorquing couldn't damage the clamp. Unfortunately, button heads are always one size smaller on the broach than socket because of the geometry, for standard fasteners, putting us at M2.5, which is not present on some tools like the Specialized SWAT tool, which is pretty common, so that's frustrating, for sure. At the time we didn't have the folume to justify the expense of a custom fastener to give a larger head, as we weren't selling tens of thousands of these, so we stuck with off-the-shelf fasteners. Now, we're actually updating the mount to make all the hardware captive and eliminate the need for a tool entirely, so, soon we'll be able to earn your 5 stars.
My husband bought the Outbound Trail EVO for us to share (we don't bike on the same nights) and I can't count how many people have asked about the brand when they've seen how powerful the light is on group rides.
My only con is that the mount breaks on even the most minor impacts. I'm on my 3rd mount - first time, my thigh caught on the light when I slid out and it caused the handlebar clamp to break. Second time, I was riding in the day without the light and went OTB - my leg caught on the mount and it caused a break in the same spot. I believe that that might be intentional design to protect your light from damage - my first crash the light was totally unscathed. Thankfully, Outbound's policy on crash replacements is stellar. I can't recommend this brand enough - their lights are literally light years ahead (pun intended) than their competitors.
What can I say, all of the Outboound stuff is amazing. Easy to put on and everything you need to hold your light. I picked up a couple extra so that I can leave the mounts on my other bikes and switch as the situation is needed.
