Fantastic light
I ordered the Portal for the Marji Gesick MTB race and it worked extremely well. Toggling between the two lowest brightness settings provided plenty of light for hours of rainy, muddy, technical riding. After the first few minutes of riding I did not notice the weight of the light at all.

Makes all the difference
I’ve got 2 kids so I typically ride early mornings or later in the day. In the fall using a light is mandatory. I had been using a focused beam on my bars but when it died to gave the Portal a try. It was the right decision. The wide spread of light is much better for seeing the whole trail and paired with a helmet light I see everything like it’s daylight. NOTE: I realize the Portal is a helmet light but it works GREAT on my bar, AND with the quick release mount you can adjust it for any variety of cables. Highly recommended. Don’t forget the adapter though! It’s a separate part (ps their customer service is amazing too).

Portal light
So I have the portal light and I use it on my handlebars. And it has worked pretty great. There was a small issue with it and they took care of it. The light was more than I thought and I would recommend it.
In order to hit the same runtime as Trail Evo, and have higher peak brightness than Hangover we shoved a 5,000 mAH genuine Samsung 50E 21700 battery cell and wrapped the light around it.
This results in 43% more capacity over our Hangover light, meaning far longer runtimes (up to 2.5 hours on adaptive, a 50% increase over Hangover).
Even brighter!
While more lumens isn't always the answer, we added in some more brightness and increased the beam pattern width over Hangover to provide even more punch down the trail.
New finely tuned optics with 30% larger TIR cones means higher optical efficiency and more peripheral light to help spot the spooky stuff.
Simple User Interface
Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, so we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated button presses get to the mode you want.
Portal’s soft-touch overmolded top shell has a single, large button right in the middle that’s easy to feel through a thick winter glove in the dark, so you don’t have to hunt blindly around on top of your head just to turn it on.
