Bike Lights
Excellent rear light - not just lumens, but steradians: large lit area vs typical pinpoint dot. Side illumination benefits seem real on road+bike lane crisscrosses and merges; cars to side will stop on approach, whereas before Blade (using back-firing bright dot), only those behind would stop.
Been riding with it two months (daytime road, constant high). Before Blade, would have close call weekly, none since. Yeah it's as heavy as a radar, but the size gets you seen, and the weight keeps it bright for days.
Need white front variant!
All pics midday, slightly overcast, Slope Road Wahoo Trackr mount.
I was hesitant in ordering, but after installing them and going for a night ride, these lights are absolutely worth the price. I do a lot of high speed, technical and downhill type riding on my EMTB & they surpass my lighting needs! I even installed them on my dirtbike when I did a 24 hour race and they worked great! I broke a mount and they replaced it with no questions asked.. great no questions asked warranty.
Highly recommended!!!
I reached out to find out how to fix the cover on my detour that had become loose. They sent me a shipping label that day and then to my surprise sent me a new detour under warranty instead of fixing my old light and sending it back. They officially have a customer for life! The detour is an amazing light for my early morning commutes to work. And now I’ll definitely purchase the helmet lamp I’ve been eyeing.
Can't begin to explain:
a) How great the light is. Even in it's lowest setting it illuminates everything and the pass-through charging, with the super handy 90 degree usb lead, means I've never had to worry about it dying on me during long overnight rides
b) How great the company is. Top notch customer service that you only ever get from companies that actually care about their product and customers
Folks,
I received a trail evo and hangover combo for Christmas a couple of years ago and have been blinding other trail users along the way with glee. Well the trail evo started having an issue with not charging. I sent a quick message to the team and after they received my old light a new one was delivered. Man what a great experience. This updated version with some new neat logo features is now blinding everyone who dares to glance my way. Its a great feeling to incapacitate others so you can slowly grind past them. Haha ride on!☠️
I bought both the Trail Evo and the Detour lights, in December 2024. I have been using the Trail Evo since then for my mtb rides. I ride in afternoon and in almost all of my winter rides I return with completely dark sky. I have been using a fenix BC26R bike light before the Trail Evo. It has enough lumens (max 1600lumens), with good throw, a relatively wide beam but its battery life is short. I chose the Trail Evo and Detour because engineers design and build the lights (look at mtbr forums), which is for me amazing (I am an engineer too) and of the good reviews. Well. The Trail Evo is amazing. It throws the light far away, it has a bright, even, super wide beam with a good neutral white colour. The light turns the night into day. It makes easily the way safe for speeds of 45km/h (for example in fire roads). The battery lasts as long as it promises, which is long and the adaptive mode works well. In the pictures you can see the super wide, long throw of the Trail Evo during a night descent.
Detour is a very nice light. I use it in the city, with a wide, long throw and a superior cut off beam.
I love them!
Works great with my Peak Design Out Front Bike Mount V2. No notes.
It’s not very exciting, unless you have two bikes. If you have two bikes this is ideal. I can use the quick release mount to swap my light between bikes in seconds. The mount fits perfectly, attaches securely and functions superbly. It’s really hard to write a glowing review about a headlight mount. But it matches everything I’ve purchased from these guys. It’s perfect in n and does just what I need as unobtrusively as possible. Thanks!
Went out on my first night ride a few days after receiving my new lights and all I can say is wow. It is so confidence inspiring to be able to see the trail at night with Evo and Portal duo
Best MTB lights in the market, backed by the best crew and the best warranty service. After 4 years of heavy use and still running like new, had a manufacturer defect that they didn’t hesitated in resolve. Got offered to mail me the lense or to send my headlamp for installation. Jason Wilcox sent it with the installation instructions and done. Great communication, better service. 100% recommended.
After reading the reviews I decided to pull the trigger and buy this light. It’s solid built, very well made and really bright. Only thing I don’t like is the fact none of my other five chargers work or charge this light. Outside of that you can’t go wrong by purchasing it.
Projected light beam pattern is really less glaring to oncoming traffic. Lightweight for what it is capable of. Nice quick-release mounting. Pass-through charging is a must have feature. Will buy the Trail Evo next for my MTB.
I recently purchased the Detour headlight and Blade taillight for my gravel bike and couldn't be happier! The quality is second to none (even the packaging and instructions feel "premium"), and they even shipped the next day after ordering! Take THAT Amazon! I 1,000% recommend giving these lights a try.
Super bright and eye catching. Robust and well built. Perfect to round out my set of Outbound headlights.
I must state, I haven't been able to get this light onto my bike yet, since I need a 34.9 mm shim, which I was unaware of the fact that my size is too big for what comes with this light. However, the shin sizes are listed, so it was just my bad for not planning ahead and getting a proper mount.
Anyways, how it compares to my $20 Amazon light: The Amazon light was definitely a red light, but was also small and lacking in terms of battery and brightness. But this light? It can seriously be used as a flashlight, so on a dark road, my bike will be a haunting red glow that no driver could miss. And in a decently well lit location at night, still, nobody will miss you.
Yapping over, TLDR: I have to buy a 34.9 mm clamp to use the light on my freeride bike, but the light has already proved its value in sheer quality and safety from its usage of the light and its brightness. And yes, the side angle is unmissable!
