The team at Outbound has been wonderful to work with. They never gave up finding the right solution for my specific needs. Their responses to my inquiries were timely and products would often ship same day. The product is solid - you can feel it in the construction - and the illumination is amazing. There is no excuse not to ride at night, thanks to Outbound. Enjoy!
The 5 star reviews are absolutely justified. The lights are excellent, and once I figured out the mount ( -BIG thanks to Outbound founder Tom for the video!) -they are a breeze to attach as well. The wide helmet mount is PERFECT for awkward helmets like my Smith FF Mainline. I rode today w the helmet and bar lights and they stayed perfectly solid. Thanks!
I’ve been riding mountain bikes for a long time and have gone through all the generations of lights/batteries (including the halogen/lead acid era). Yes, there are many LED lights on the market now, all boasting gigantic lumens, stellar battery life and perfect beam pattern. I’ve tried many and some meet some of those claims. Outbound’s lights meet all those claims and more.
First, when you pick up the lights, you quickly understand that these are not flimsy or fragile. They have heft - which translates to reliability on the trail under adverse conditions. The housing is also smartly designed to cool the LEDs using an internal channel to direct air through the housing. This is a smart systems engineering approach.
Second when you power them on, you immediately realize how important beam pattern is to riding on a trail. Outbound’s lights provide a large, bright spot in the center of your path, and also provide strong lighting in the peripherals, allowing me to almost see around the corners before I turn my head or the bars. This is a game changer and no other lighting system that I’ve used provides this much light in the right spots.
Finally, battery life and the indicators are more than adequate for my rides. The adaptable feature is effective and the light change is not noticeable over the course of a 2-3 hour ride.
All said, Outbound lights are the best I’ve used and I recommend them to everyone.
