Innovative but more work to do.

The helmet light is heavy, I'm trying to find a spot on my helmet where I don't notice it so much otherwise I may not use it going forward. "Middle" is not a good spot if you don't want your helmet to hang low and thus cover your eyes or bang into your glasses. I'd take a 30% reduction in run time for a 30% reduction in weight.

The MTB bar light I got has issues with the charging cover, it doesn't want to stay in-place. The "preferred" mounting position puts the light way out front which of course, given the weight of the light, affects the feel of the steering of the bike. I mounted mine as close to the bars as possible "up side down", slightly over the bars, which is superior but also a bit awkward since they designed the light to be mounted differently.

Also, my bars are thin and the light thus must be mounted (with adapter) right next to the stem, which makes it off-center and also a bit awkward. Not ideal.

Honestly a bit surprised to hear that the light is heavy, since it's lighter weight than any other self-contained light on the market currently, but where you mount it is definitely key. Further back is definitely better in general to balance the weight, if you send us some info about your specific helmet we can advise on a spot to put it, or send you additional VHB tape if you want to experiment.

Regarding the handlebar light, if the USB door isn't staying put, that's not by design, and a solvable problem if we know about it. This response will generate an email to you so you can get us a pic or more detail, we can get that fixed for sure.

Literally only ever heard one person before say the weight affects steering feel, but you just probably have a more tuned in feel than most riders do to be honest. The mount position you're using is the right way to do it to move the light further back towards the stem if preferred, nothing wrong with that!

And yes, we designed the mount to attach right next to the stem because that's the only part of typical bars that are guaranteed to be parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the direction of movement, so that we don't have the light off-angle or have to include multiple bulky angular adjustment interfaces built into every mount to account for pitch/yaw. Surprised that puts it off-center with your specific stem, must just be a couple millimeters most, but that's the fun of the bike industry trying to make anything 'standard' to fit everything all the time. Shoot us some pics and we'll figure something out for you.

These new wide mounts solved a problem that’s needed to be solved for years, usually when this is done in the bike industry, the price is shockingly high. Outbound lighting is the best of the best, thoughtfully designing quality products and always at a fair price.

Helps with helmet having center line vents

My helmet has vents along its crest and no place to attach a regular adhesive light mount base. The wide base straddles the vents and works well.
