A must have for night riding

I really enjoy my Outbound light. I feel safe on the trails at night with the brightness and quality. I have used other lights for night riding and none are as good as the Outbound light. Outbound sets the standard for excellent trail lights and customer service is the best.

Best trail light I’ve used.

The Evo is a phenomenal trail light. The beam pattern and brightness is perfect for my riding, which is mostly wooded midwestern singletrack with rolling terrain, short uphills and short downhills.

Most of my rides can be comfortably completed using adaptive or a mix of high/medium, but the option to extend runtime with a power bank is awesome for extended rides. I’ve found that Monoprice’s compact 10,000 mah power bank works great for this, and a stuck a Garmin style quarter turn mount on one so I can easily mount it to my bike.

The mounting system works great, though I felt like a needed to tighten it a bit more than I was comfortable with for it to stop slipping when hitting rough stuff.

Outbound customer service is fantastic. The brass plunger on my first mount was a little sticky and they sent me a new mount immediately when contacted.

My only improvement would be for the daytime flash and low mode to be lower brightness. I feel like it’s unusable in areas with other cyclists and pedestrians. I was hoping to use it as a daytime light in place of my Detour when I know I won’t be riding at night, but I think it’s too bright for that.

I’m very happy I decided to upgrade my older Magicshine MJ-808e. The Evo blows it out of the water. To be fair, there’s about a decade and $170 separating the two, but the increased confidence and enjoyment of night riding provided by the Evo is completely worth it.

Handlebar & Helmet Light

Super impressed with the ordering process. Very quickly shipped. Delivery solid and on time. LOVING the handlebar light. It lights up a LOT of single rack trail. Low hours on it so far but no issues with the adaptive mode. Not sure about the helmet light, however that might be because the handlebar light is so bright and I've not tested helmet light only. I do like the lightweight aspect of the helmet light. Less than half my previous light/battery-on-helmet setup. I highly recommend the pair and I can see how and why they are so popular. Oh, I'm not an immediate fan of the 90 degree USB-C connector on the charge cable. I find it difficult to remove (especially from the handlebar light) over what a straight cable connector would be. Small gripes, but I still give 5 stars.

Advanced Optical Engineering

Mind blowing, incredible, and game changing are a few of the words used to describe how seamless and bright the Trail Evo beam pattern is.
