About a month ago I purchased a Portal headlamp to replace an aging Light & Motion Seca light. I do a light of riding in the dark and have used the Portal in heavy rains, dense thick fog and it runs like a champ. The adaptive mode seems to help prolong the battery life. So far I have barely nicked the capacity of the battery and recharging it is so quick and easy. The quality and quantity of light is just about right for my needs since I ride on streets of Seattle that are pretty well lit. At first I was a bit skeptical about 2 things: 1) mounting the light to my helmet (I followed the instructions carefully and whatever adhesive is on the mount seems to stick very well. I like the fact that I don't have to mess around with velcro straps to attach the light to my helmet. 2) my old Light & Motion had a mount that provided up and down adjustment as well as left to right. The Portal doesn't have provision to adjust left to right but that doesn't seem to matter since the beam gives pretty wide coverage. I am quite satisfied with the Portal and am looking forward to a lot of use of it. Bottom line, all your claims and descriptions are true and I think the price is fair. Highly recommended.

The perfect match to their bar mounted lights, this light gives you that extra bit of pighting you need to feel confident enough to go as fast as you would in the day time. Run time is quite good too, running both the evo and portal lights in adaptive mode ends up betting you about the same total runtime for both of them so it's a good way to go about it if you want similar runtime from these lights when you're out on the trail. It also works well to run your bar light in adaptive and run the portal mounted on your helmet in either low or medium modes depending on how fast you're going.

Had an issue, contacted outbound, and was resolved without hesitation. I have full trust in this company.
In order to hit the same runtime as Trail Evo, and have higher peak brightness than Hangover we shoved a 5,000 mAH genuine Samsung 50E 21700 battery cell and wrapped the light around it.
This results in 43% more capacity over our Hangover light, meaning far longer runtimes (up to 2.5 hours on adaptive, a 50% increase over Hangover).
Even brighter!
While more lumens isn't always the answer, we added in some more brightness and increased the beam pattern width over Hangover to provide even more punch down the trail.
New finely tuned optics with 30% larger TIR cones means higher optical efficiency and more peripheral light to help spot the spooky stuff.
Simple User Interface
Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, so we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated button presses get to the mode you want.
Portal’s soft-touch overmolded top shell has a single, large button right in the middle that’s easy to feel through a thick winter glove in the dark, so you don’t have to hunt blindly around on top of your head just to turn it on.
