Work fantastic. Short version, more light(s) than needed, run EVO usually on medium and Portal on low or med for any flat or up, maybe go to high on downhills if MTB'ing. I like to run Portal on roadbike or gravel around town on the GO-PRO style because it's a little smaller and again plenty of light to see with beam pattern. Both lights are true to word on "run time", and at lower settings generally far exceed my ability to ride. I've done direct comparisons to magic shines theoretical 8000 lumen giants. IMHO, the outbound put out as much if not more light b/c the beam pattern is substantially better engineered. I won't go into the fact the magic shines loose brightness as they heat up the outbound don't suffer this fate. I would recommend this combination product and it'll cover all your cycling needs. the issue will be, it's likely the last lights you'll purchase for quite awhile, so buy once and cry once and you'll be all smiles after.
