After blighting the bullet on the detour headlight and realizing how much quality and functionality is engineered into Outbound Lighting products, I was still somewhat hesitant to pull the trigger on the Blade rear light. However, after running it for numerous rides at night, I’ve been blown away by the performance and quality of their products once again. The light mount is fantastic and since it’s a common mount to the Garmin Varia, there’s already tons of aftermarket support for mounting it in various ways including a rack mount. I would have no hesitation recommending this product to anyone looking for a fantastic rear light. For me, it was time to upgrade to USB-C charging from my decades old Cygolite, which performed well, but not anywhere near as well as the Blade. If you want to take your rear lighting seriously, this is easily the right option.
I purchased the Blade Tail light with high hopes, because I have had a good experience with the headlight. Photos on the site indicate it works with oval seat posts. It does not. The shims available do not fit any of my bikes, which are far from unconventional. There are no other mounts available and no shims that could work. Big disappointment is an understatement.
I'm very sorry for the trouble here, we can and will absolutely get this resolved. I'm a bit confused since all of our pictures on the product page are of round seatposts, and we state that it fits 27.2, 30.9, and 31.6mm round posts, not oval, but we'll figure out the source with you and get that resolved.
As for additional mounts, we are in the process of adding more mount options for >200 different bespoke carbon seatposts to the website in a partnership with Sheehy Labs, but have been in event prep for Sea Otter Classic and it's taking longer than expected. I'll reach out via email and get you one of those options for your specific brand and model of oval seat posts today so you don't have to wait.
Best tail light I’ve owned. Hands down
Super bright, visible from many angles, crazy long battery life. A bit heavy but worth it for my use case.
This thing is bad. It's bright as hell. Has a wicked blink pattern that can't really be avoided. Awesome light distribution. Basically, if you're interested in not being hit by a vehicle, buy this thing. You won't regret it.
Would’ve bought one this evening had it has flash settings.
Looks like you indeed did not purchase this light, but it does have flashing modes! Blade has a Daytime Strobe mode optimized for bright ambient conditions, and an Eco Flash for crazy long runtimes (and to ensure you never look down and find you light dead, as all modes trip down to this when the battery is low). We just want to make it clear we have really long runtimes on bright constant output modes since flashing lights on bikes are outlawed in some countries, but we have all of them.
