Detour: confidence to go that extra mile
It’s time to bring the power of your cars headlight to your bike, free from wires and clumsy mounting.
An incredible industry leading cutoff beam pattern designed by automotive light experts prevents you from blinding oncoming pedestrians, fellow bikers and drivers. Providing you with a higher degree of safety, as well as a more enjoyable riding experience.
This is the game changer. Not only did we bring the automotive grade cutoff beam pattern to your handlebars, we took it a step further by precisely controlling how much light leaves the light and hits the ground from the front of your tire all the way up to where you are looking. When you read "it's like riding in daylight" this is why.
Not only are we the only USA-based manufacture of cutoff (also referred to as STVzO) beam pattern bike lights, we also made sure the light has unreal width to light up the ditches and keep the spooky things away.
Rock Solid Mounting
A good light isn’t so good if
it’s bouncing up and down on the bars all the time. That’s why we made a bolt-on clamp mount for Detour so it’s solidly locked to the bar, With a simple shim it adapts from 35mm to 31.8mm handlebars and the beam won’t shake around like lights with rubber strap mounts do.
We adapted an established
camera tripod mount concept then miniaturized it for slick snap-in installation with a ramped-cam that always takes up the slack as it wears, so you never have a rattly interface, and an easy one-handed quick-release process to pop the Detour off post-ride and toss in your pocket.
Simple User Interface
Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated sequence of button presses get to the mode you want.
Detour’s soft-touch overmolded top shell has a single, large button right in the middle that’s easy to feel through a thick winter glove in the dark, with four green indicators to clearly convey mode and battery status without the need for a decoder.
Four simple modes cover the majority of use cases from set-it-and-forget-it long training rides to solid output for that quick commute home – Adaptive / High / Medium / Low – and no SOS or seizure inducing strobes stuck in between.
Several pulse and strobe modes are available from off. Super easy to remember!
We like to keep our lights simple on the outside for the user, but that doesn’t mean we’re skimping on the guts inside. The constant-current driver maintains rock solid regulation through the Cree XD16 LEDs over the entire voltage range of the genuine Samsung 21700 cell with a unique battery monitoring algorithm to give you accurate feedback without interruption.
Complete with fast QC 3.0 USB-C charging and Pass-Thru capability to boot, we engineer the electronics to maximize efficiency and runtime while minimizing charge times, all without any proprietary connectors that could leave you stranded.
When you pick up this light you might be suprised to not feel any metal. Plastic?! Must be something we used to be cheap isn't it? Far from it.
This material we use is an incredibly cool (ha) engineered resin that is not only very durable, but also conducts heat. This has been a very challenging engineering development project to bring to market, being one of the first to bring this thermally conductive plastic to bike lights.
We made sure that it can handle the intense heat of the LED's through lots of engineering simulation, then prototypes and finally lots of small tweaks to dial things in. The result is a lightweight, durable, and thermally balanced light housing.

As advertised 100% true love it
so bright, compact and without wires. say no more
Amazing battery that allows you to run 3+ hours at a good pace. No wires to mess with; easy to put on and take off. Best light combination out there at this time.
Extremely the best flashlight I have ever used.
the best flashlight I have ever used.
If you’re looking for a trail light, you don’t have to look any further except, maybe complimenting the Trail Evo with the “Hangover” helmet light which I wish I had done. With that said, this light is simply the best light out there. I have been using this light for about 6 months now and the light has performed flawless. I always have other mountain bikers asking about it. Yes, there are lights out there with more lumens, but when you see how clear the projection of this light is, it is the perfect package including run times and ease of use. It’s built like a tank and has a new locking mounting system which was upgraded. Also, their customer service rocks!
Keep of the great work.
First AZ night ride was a complete blast with my ew Outbound light. Was almost too bright! I road for two hours and still had plenty of runtime.
great light, great visibility. Now when I ride at night its just the noises and reflecting eye that scare me; I'm no longer afraid I'll miss seeing something on the trail. It holds its charge well and you won't really notice the light dimming when using it on the adaptive setting.
Got the Trail evo because I wanted something smaller to keep in my pack for when I end up mountain biking and the sun goes down (which is often). Tested it out on my gravel bike first for a quick ride in the dark and liked it so much I was back on the site that night to pick up a second mount (so I could switch the light between the mtn and gravel quickly) and the hangover light for my helmet. The light was instantly my go - to for everything night riding. Shortly after the hangover showed up in the mail I had an opportunity to use both lights on a trail ride and I can't remember the last time I felt so confident riding in the dark. I have tried several lights in the past and they all seemed to be unsure what the best beam pattern should be. These guys absolutely nailed it, I will without hesitation reccomend these lights to anyone who wants to ride anywhere in the dark, on the road or in the woods.
The build quality is fantastic. The mounts are easy and make more sense than any mounts I have used before, and best of all they charge via usb-c so I don't need to worry about carrying around some stupid proprietary charger with me when I commute to work.
Really couldn't be more pleased with these lights.
I bought the package with two lights the hangover and the evo which is why I give it a 10 star review both products are above
And beyond amazing! These lights are brighter than my trucks brights! I like how the batteries are built in and they are lightweight. Well worth the money and I’m glad to see they are made locally not shipped from china! Support American made!
This thing completely lights up the trails at night, and probably would during the day. Worth every penny, secure mount for MTB trails and easy on/off clip system. One charge has lasted 3+ rides (hour a piece). You really don’t need the brightest setting, it’s almost too bright? Kudos to Outbound 🤙
I commute 14.9 miles (minimum) each way to work on my RadPower Rad City 5+ e-bike at speeds between 20 and 25mph. I leave well before first light each day on rural roads and then improved roads. The combination of distance thrown by the light and the peripheral light thrown is absolutely essential for safe riding due to debris on the rural roads and potholes and trash on the "improved" roads. This light is the best I've ever used. I really like the integrated design with no cables. It also fit nicely with the e-bike controls. I start with the light in adaptive mode and it lights up the night sky. As first light breaks I reduce the power to medium and then to low. Outbound Lighting did a really nice job with this light but it just isn't for trail riding... it makes an awesome commuter light.
Purchased the lights right before this 24 hr relay event. One stage was at 4 am, so I needed some good lights to see the road! These lit up everything!! My leg was 2 hours long and the lights were on high beam, and batteries lasted with some battery life to spare! If you want to be seen, and see what your riding into, then get these. You will be glad you did!!!
Excellent lights for night riding! I can't stand having bulky light batteries with cables all over the place, and dealing with potentially scratching up the matte finish on my expensive bike. The Trail Evo solves this problem. Plenty of battery life, even for my longer 3+ hour night rides. Lights up the entire trail to induce enough confidence where I am riding as fast as I do during the day. Couldn't be happier with my setup! Hoping to add the helmet mount version soon.
my go to all the time for riding past sundown. Light, portable, easy to use - and WIRELESS. Highly recommended! Great customer service as well.
The first time I used this light, I couldn’t believe how much better it was than my old one. The field of view is really wide and I could still see in front while turning the bars. My riding buddies wanted to ride behind me so they could see better. The fact that the battery is integrated was a real plus. It was taking a little long to get so I emailed. Got a very quick and friendly response. Very satisfied with their customer service.
