Lights work great for mountain biking and low to moderate speed

Lights work well for technical riding in the PNW

Great light

I've had my headlight from Outbound for a couple weeks now. I love it. Unlike other lights (Bontrager Ion headlights) that I've put on my helmet, it's light enough and low enough to the helmet that I really can't feel that it's there too much. Not to mention the light itself completely illuminates the trail- it's very bright. I like to go on rides later in the day and usually come back in the dark so it was definitely worth the price for me to know my light won't just go out on me (my Bontrager lights do).

Overall it's a good reliable light and I'd say it's worth paying a bit more for something that you know you can trust.

This light has been extremely well thought out!

I’ve been looking high and low for not just a great light, but one which enabled me to mount the light UNDER the handlebar without mounting the light upside down and throwing the light pattern the wrong direction or in the best case scenario, forcing you to turn it on and off via a button, now (upside down) on the bottom of the light!
This light has been extremely well thought out. I’ve been able to mount it under my bars with the light in the correct orientation and can still easily operate the button. If you can’t understand why having your headlight mounted UNDER your bars is important, than two things are obvious. Number one you’re riding in a park!🤣 Seriously, if you’re riding single tracks at NIGHT, it’s not IF you’re going over the bars, it’s WHEN. Secondly, if you’ve ever had to service your bike on a ride (like change or patch a tube), you know the easiest way to do that, whenever the trail permits, is to flip your bike upside down on your BARS and seat. If you’re light is mounted on top of your bars that makes service difficult and crashes calamitous for a headlight. AND I’m not some inconsiderate dick who just doesn’t give a shit because you guys are so awesome and will replace it. That’s all good but, any warranty claim would cause downtime which I’m trying to avoid. I say “trying” because again if you ain’t smashing, you ain’t crashing and I didn’t drop $8k on my bike just to ride it in the park on a warm Sunday afternoon. That having been said, both my Evo and my Portal purchases have been money well spent and though not cheap, if you’re ride is worthy of some worthy lights, look no further.

Perfect for riding in the woods in the dark

I have it mounted to the front of my bike and it provides plenty of light on the single track I ride in the early morning hours before the sun comes up. It’s enough light that you can’t outride it.

Best lights there are

I didn't know bike lights could be this good

Bigger 21700 battery!

In order to hit the same runtime as Trail Evo, and have higher peak brightness than Hangover we shoved a 5,000 mAH genuine Samsung 50E 21700 battery cell and wrapped the light around it.

This results in 43% more capacity over our Hangover light, meaning far longer runtimes (up to 2.5 hours on adaptive, a 50% increase over Hangover).

Even brighter!

While more lumens isn't always the answer, we added in some more brightness and increased the beam pattern width over Hangover to provide even more punch down the trail.

New finely tuned optics with 30% larger TIR cones means higher optical efficiency and more peripheral light to help spot the spooky stuff.

Simple User Interface

Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, so we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated button presses get to the mode you want.

Portal’s soft-touch overmolded top shell has a single, large button right in the middle that’s easy to feel through a thick winter glove in the dark, so you don’t have to hunt blindly around on top of your head just to turn it on.
