The Bike Light Evolution:
When we launched the Trail Edition back in 2017 it was a game changer for bike lights.
A beam pattern specifically designed for trail riding with a wide evenly illuminated distribution. However it required an external battery pack, and we had lots of customers wanting to go wireless.
So we took the best parts of Trail, and evolved it into the Trail Evo. Bringing a long lasting, even brighter, even wider beam pattern to your handlebars, without any external cords.
Advanced Optical Engineering
When we developed Evo’s beam pattern, we knew we could go wider and brighter, so we redefined our illumination goals, target candela points, beam angles, and then went to work simulating, testing, prototyping and developing the most seamless pattern we've built to date.
The extreme width is thanks to the finely tuned blended Total Internal Reflection (TIR) optics. Hundreds of simulations with Lucidshape software let us squish, squeeze, stretch and shape the light to hit that perfect balance of peak brightness, smooth falloff and insane peripheral coverage.

Rock Solid Mounting
A good light isn’t so good if
it’s bouncing up and down all the time. That’s why we made a bolt-on clamp mount for Evo. It’s solidly locked to the bar and the beam won’t shake around like lights with rubber strap mounts do.
It's an easy one-handed quick-release process to pop Trail Evo off post-ride to charge.

Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, so we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember a complicated sequence of button presses get to the mode you want.
Thermally Engineered
High power bike lights get hot, that is why we use our engineering prowess to keep them cool. Utilizing another industry first, we collect air through a scoop underneath the light, and pass it through the light, cooling all nine LED's that are spread apart to balance the heat load.
USB-C Pass-Thru Charging
We were one of the first to offer USB-C charging as standard, except we took it a step further by offering pass-through charging as well. This lets you plug in any USB power bank and charge the light while in use, in any mode. Game changer for 24 hour races and extra long night rides!

Will the mount fit my handlebars?
The clamp fits 35 mm bars and comes with a 31.8 mm shim. Shims for 25.4 mm and 22.2 mm are on the accessories page. Oddball sizes like 33 mm carbon or 23.8 mm Redshift bars work with the nearest shim and a longer clamp screw; leave a note on your order and we'll toss one in. You need about 10 mm of round bar next to the stem.
I have an integrated bar/stem. Is there any way to mount Evo?
Usually. If your bar has an accessory fitting on the front or underside (Trek RSL Blendr, Roval Control, the newer Scott Syncros IC bars), put a GoPro-style adapter there and use our Action Camera QR Mount. Plenty of riders run Evo on RSL Blendr. If the bar has no fittings at all, there's no clean answer yet, so email us a photo and we'll tell you straight instead of selling you something that won't work.
What are the lumens in each mode?
2200 on high, 880 on medium, 440 on low, for the whole light. We don't lead with that number because it tells you nothing about where the light goes. A wide, even beam at 2200 lumens looks completely different from a hotspot at 2200 lumens, and on singletrack the wide one wins.
How long does it actually run?
Adaptive 2.6 hours, high 1.7, medium 4.2, low 8.5. Those are bench runs from a full charge to the low-battery warning at riding-speed airflow, not a spec sheet guess. After the warning you get about 20 minutes of get-home light in every mode, so it doesn't just die on you.
Can I run it off a power bank for longer rides?
Yes, in every mode. Plug it in from the start of the ride, not when it's dying. Evo charges at 3A max and drains about 5.6A on high, 2.2A on medium and 1.1A on low, so a bank stretches high a lot but not forever, and on medium a 20 Ah bank runs 12+ hours. That's how people get through 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo. Anker, Belkin, RAVPower all work. Use our cable so the port stays sealed.
Can I use it on the road? Will it blind drivers?
You can, and people do, but it's a wall of light with no cutoff, same as every other non-cutoff bike light out there. Angle it down a bit or drop to low around traffic. If most of your riding is road or bike path, Detour is the right light; it has a cutoff beam like a car's low beam.
Is it waterproof?
It's sealed for rain, snow, creek crossings and a hose-down after the ride. We don't take it scuba diving and you shouldn't pressure wash it, but a bike light that couldn't handle a wet trail wouldn't be much of a bike light. If you somehow drown one, it's covered.
Can the battery be replaced?
By us, free, for the life of the light. Not by you in the field. Almost every replacement we do is from a light stored dead in a cold garage all summer, not from riding, so charge it up and keep it indoors and you'll likely never need one.
What's the warranty?
Three years, plus lifetime support from a real person in our shop. Crashed it, dog chewed the cable, lost the mount screw, ran it over: covered. Two rules. Be kind to the people helping you, and be honest about what happened so we can engineer the failure out. Details on the warranty page.

Anywhere a carrier delivers, from Chicago. Duties and taxes are set by your country and show at checkout before you pay. If you're in the UK, EU, Australia or Canada, check the shop locator first; a local dealer may have one on the shelf.
