Sufficient for bike paths & lit city streets. (I wish it was an EVO w/a cutoff)

I really wanted to like it because I think the cutoff feature is valuable. But it's just OK.
The Detour is very sensitive to the angle it's pointed at. Even a fraction of a degree too low and you won't get enough light projection to safely see past ~15mph on unlit roads. I wish it had more projection and more peripheral light. I had to use max output where on my EVO I can easily use the med setting.
The cutoff means there is no light when you lean your bike into any kind of corner. This is also significant because the overall pattern is fairly narrow. I would not use this light w/o a helmet mounted spot for looking into corners unless it was only being used for straight lit city streets (w/ambient light) or slower speed bikepaths.

If I hadn't lost it (or was it stolen?) I'd still be using it, but can see better blinding traffic and trail users with my EVO... If they make an EVO w/a cutoff, I'd gladly buy it for commuting purposes.

(I also had a Hangover which I found underpowered and anxiously await the higher powered Portal for pairing with my Superb EVO on the trails).

Fantastic Light!

This light oozes quality. It’s hard to find things these days that are this well thought out. Everything has purpose and no corners cut. Plus, I’ve only heard good things about this company and their customer service. Several of my friends own their mountain bike lights and rave over them.

I finally pulled the trigger and got my own! The days are getting shorter (it’s fall at the time I’m writing this). The brightness is perfect. It’s a nice wide even spread, with a bit of a hot spot, that when aimed correctly shines well down the trail (all while having a sharp cutoff to not blind others). The runtime is great, and I love that it has pass through charging should I ever want to ride longer.

Overall, the price is what held me back initially, but it’s well worth it. I feel safer, and more confident riding at night now that I can see even better. The Detour replace an older Niterider Lumina. It was plenty bright, but way too narrow a beam.

Best lights and best service

I own all 3 lights, they are the best; had an issue with one of them and they had me a new one in under a week. All my friends use OL.

Great mounting system

I was concerned about vibration given the single arm handlebar mount, but I was wrong. The mount it very sturdy and the design allows you rotate the mount around the bar as needed while having a separate screw to aim the light.
I used it on gravel and some road, it lights what is needed.
I like the beam cut-off, but I can't say I personally notice a difference.

ELITE in all respects

Have only used on paved roads so far, but hope to get on trails soon. Delivery was VERY FAST! Packaging was top-notch & instructions were clear. Love the aesthetics & variety of light modes. EASY to support an obviously well-run business like this one!

Automotive headlights
For your bike

Bringing our automotive lighting experience to provide a clean cut-off beam pattern that evenly illuminates the road ahead. You wouldn't use a flashlight for your car, why use it for your bike?

Optical Engineering

This is the game changer. Not only did we bring the automotive grade cutoff beam pattern to your handlebars, we took it a step further by precisely controlling how much light leaves the light and hits the ground from the front of your tire all the way up to where you are looking. When you read "it's like riding in daylight" this is why.

We are the only USA-based manufacturer of cutoff (also referred to as StVZO) beam pattern bike lights, we also made sure the light has unreal width to light up the ditches and keep the spooky things away.

Detour was designed with your ride in mind. Long runtime, easy mounting, broad panoramic beam, fast USB-C charging, and all backed by industry leading customer service.

Rock Solid Mounting

A good light isn’t so good if
it’s bouncing up and down on the bars all the time. That’s why we made a bolt-on clamp mount for Detour so it’s solidly locked to the bar, With a simple shim it adapts from 35mm to 31.8mm handlebars (25.4 and 22mm shims available) and the beam won’t shake around like lights with rubber strap mounts do.

Keep Life Simple

Few people read instruction manuals, even fewer want to, we keep our lights dead simple so that you don’t need an advanced degree to remember some complicated sequence of button presses to get to the mode you want.

USB-C pass-Thru Charging

We were one of the first to offer USB-C charging as standard, except we took it a step further by offering pass-through charging as well. This lets you plug in any USB power bank and charge the light while in use,
in any mode. Game changer for 24 hour races and extra long night rides!

Keeping Cool

When you pick up this light you might be surprised to not feel any metal. Plastic?! Must be something we used to be cheap isn't it? Far from it. This material we use is an incredibly cool (ha) engineered resin that is not only very durable, but also conducts heat. The result is a lightweight, durable, and thermally balanced light housing.

Make your Night ride enjoyable.

It can be sketchy riding at night when you are used to narrow beam patterns better suited for walking in the backyard. Our incredible optical engineering makes riding at night a joy again.
