Extremely pleased with the Detour Road/Gravel light. Small, self contained and puts the light where you need it. I also got the helmet light with it and they work well together if you like riding with 2 lights. Let’s just say I was impressed enough I ordered the Trail light a few days after getting and using these. No regrets whatsoever. These are what I’ve wanted bike lights to be for the last 30 years. Well done Outbound. You nailed it with all 3.
I whined about needing to buy adapters to fit my skinny bars and outbound just refunded me for the purchase. Way to go! Thanks
I will admit we need to improve the website to make the skinny-bar options more obvious at checkout, the main reason we don't include them with the light is that the overwhelming majority of bikes sold today are 31.8mm or 35mm, and it costs money to make the shims which would end up as plastic waste in the garbage for >95% of our customers. For now, I've gone ahead and refunded you for the shipping charge for the second order and two of the three shims, since you would have ordered them together if you had known, and we're not trying to make a living nickel-and-diming people on small parts.
I have been really pleased with the Detour light for commuting - I just bought one for my wife to have as well! I am really impressed with the beam pattern and intensity -- and happy to know that I am not blinding oncoming folks on the sidewalk or on the commuter path.
This is the game changer. Not only did we bring the automotive grade cutoff beam pattern to your handlebars, we took it a step further by precisely controlling how much light leaves the light and hits the ground from the front of your tire all the way up to where you are looking. When you read "it's like riding in daylight" this is why.
We are the only USA-based manufacturer of cutoff (also referred to as StVZO) beam pattern bike lights, we also made sure the light has unreal width to light up the ditches and keep the spooky things away.
Rock Solid Mounting
A good light isn’t so good if
it’s bouncing up and down on the bars all the time. That’s why we made a bolt-on clamp mount for Detour so it’s solidly locked to the bar, With a simple shim it adapts from 35mm to 31.8mm handlebars (25.4 and 22mm shims available) and the beam won’t shake around like lights with rubber strap mounts do.
