Detour Bike Light

The stock clamp flips to either side of the stem, so it tucks under most GPS mounts with the light still right-side-up. If your computer mount has a GoPro fitting underneath, grab our Action Camera QR Mount and hang Detour there; the button sits a couple of inches out front so you can still reach it under a Garmin or Wahoo. Use a bolt, not a thumbscrew, so it doesn't sag on rough roads.

The stock clamp needs about 10 mm of round bar next to the stem, 35 mm or 31.8 mm. Most aero cockpits (Roval, Canyon, Vision, Bontrager, Cervelo) have a threaded accessory fitting underneath; put a GoPro-style mount there and use our Action Camera QR Mount. If your bar has no fitting at all, email us a photo and we'll tell you what works. Thinner bars: 25.4 and 22.2 shims are on the accessories page, and in-between sizes like 26.0 use the nearest shim with a longer screw.

1200 on high, 880 on medium, 200 on low. If your printed manual says 1600, that was a typo on our end; the light has never changed. With a cutoff beam every one of those lumens lands on the road instead of the sky, which is why it looks brighter than the number suggests.

No, that's the whole point of the cutoff. Light goes on the road, not into eyes, same idea as a car's low beam, and drivers see you just fine without being dazzled. Mount it parallel to the ground so the cutoff line sits straight ahead; most people aim it a bit too high. The beam is symmetric, so it works on either side of the road.

Not really. The cutoff that makes it great on road and gravel hides drops and roots on undulating singletrack. If you're doing dedicated trail riding, Trail Evo is the light. If you split time, pick by what you ride most. A little smooth fire road on the way to the trail is fine.

No. The beam pattern would meet or beat the StVZO standard, but we haven't paid for the certification, since we sell very few lights in Germany and it's expensive testing. So it's not legal for road use there. Everywhere else: the flash modes sit behind a 3-second hold from off, so you'll never scroll into them by accident in constant mode.

It's sealed for rain, road spray and a hose-down after the ride, and plenty of customers run it through Pacific Northwest winters and ten-hour rain rides. Pass-through charging with our cable keeps the port sealed too. No pressure washer, no scuba. If you somehow drown one, it's covered.

Yes, in every mode. Plug it in from the start of the ride. The internal cell is 5 Ah, so a 10 Ah bank gives you roughly 2.5x the runtime after conversion losses. Any USB dynamo output works the same way. Detour won't charge your phone though; power goes in only.

By us, free, for the life of the light. Not by you in the field. Almost every replacement we do is from a light stored dead in a cold garage all summer, not from riding. Charge it and keep it indoors and it'll hold that charge for about two years switched off.
